Production planning moves off a web of spreadsheets

Critical production planning ran on separate spreadsheets per plant and product type, with no validation. We replaced them with one application and built error checking into the input.

Introduction

A manufacturer planned production across a distributed set of spreadsheets. United Hub replaced them with a centralized application that handles timing data, adjustment factors and file generation in one place.

The challenge

Engineering and production teams relied on separate spreadsheets for critical production planning across plants and product types. Each one operated in isolation, so timing data, labor hours and file generation lived in uncoordinated workflows. The process was fragile. Any change had to be carried manually across multiple files, with nothing built in to catch errors before they reached the floor.

Our approach

We replaced the legacy workflow with a scalable, centralized application that gives users one interface to configure timing data, adjust factors and generate output files. In-app input validation and parameter control now catch errors at the source instead of downstream. We designed the architecture with a future database migration in mind, so the platform is positioned for integration and operational expansion beyond its current scope.

Outcomes

Three separate workflows consolidated into one.

Timing data, labor hours and file generation now run in a single controlled environment.

Validation and parameter control built into the input.

An architecture ready for SQL Server migration and further integration.

An AI agent made thousands of engineering drawings searchable

Thousands of industrial drawing PDFs held information no one could search. We built an AI agent that reads and structures the data, so teams can query the data in natural language at scale.

$800K a year in licensing, replaced by a 30 minute Databricks job

A large manufacturing was paying $800,000 a year to license enterprise data virtualization software for daily quality checks. We rebuilt it natively on Databricks, removing the license cost.
